Rodgers Speaks recently presented to the residents of the Crosspoint Transitional Facility, which is a faith based halfway house for men who are transitioning from incarceration. We used the analogy of a sports season as a comparison to what we experience in seasons in our lives. They were a great audience!
Presentation to the senior class of John Jay High School on the success process, based on my book. They were a great bunch!
We always hear “do your best, give 100%, etc.” The reality is your “best” can vary from day to day based on a number of things. 100% on one day can look different than 100% on another day. The bottom line is you want consistent effort based on your abilities!
Let’s get it started….remember the songs made by the Black Eyed Peas and, for my old school hip hop folks, MC Hammer? Anyways, everything has to have a beginning. Whatever your goal or task is, it is so important to simply start. I’ve seen so many people desire to come up with the perfect plan or wait on the perfect resources. Because of this desire for perfection, they end up not doing anything. Or they finally implement the “perfect” plan, to find out it is actually not perfect. It is wise to research and plan, however, when you are starting something new, situations will occur that you likely wouldn’t have accounted for. It is much better to come up with a solid plan, start it, and learn as you go. So…… on your mark, get set, go!
Each of these performers are considered all time greats in their respective fields. However, they all were not great on day 1 or even day 100. They all had to fight through rejections, injuries, emotions, etc. The road to success has many potholes and detours, but you can get to your destination!
